Based in Sydney, Opal Mermaids specialises in natural Australian opals, offering carefully selected loose gemstones, finished jewellery and bespoke commissions. We combine specialist knowledge with a designer’s eye, seeking quality, distinctive character and artistic beauty in every stone.
Founded by Sydney jewellery designer Olivia Chan, our brand brings together a team united by a love of opals and art. Every opal is personally selected by Olivia, while our shared commitment to quality and beauty guides every stage, from gemstone selection and design to the finished piece.
Black opals reveal vivid play-of-colour against deep body tones; white opals glow with dreamlike light; and Queensland boulder opals bring colour and natural host rock together in striking patterns. We admire ocean blues and greens, fiery reds and golds, and richly painterly textures, as well as delicate hues, subtle shifts of light and unexpected colour combinations. Our selection is not defined by a single style, but by the individual beauty of each opal.
